So I used the text I found to re-create the ebuild: Code: I also found this in the forum here which could possibly solve the problem, but the download urls for the firmware are outdated. Is the plugin for the 'epkowa' backend for image manipulation, so I installed it - no effect. Is your USB scanner ID listed in /usr/share/iscan-data/usb?Ĭan I simply add it or will that not work? And Epson's iscan still doesn't find the scanner.ĭid you uncomment epkowa in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf? Is there an ebuild for this plugin or can I or someone else create such an ebuild? I found out about the location where the plugin is copied to during installation, but simply copying it there is not sufficient. Of course I also visited the epson download pages here and here where I downloaded some rpm packages and extracted the plugin (esfw66.bin is the correct one). I found this forum post from what I learned that epson scanners in general seem to work. I know I need a proprietary plugin for the scanner which would be something like Code:īut I can not find any ebuild satisfying that, there are only packages for gt-f500, gt-f720, gt-x770, gt-x820, and perfection-v370.I have also installed xsane and the sane-backends hoping this might help Code:ĭescription: Scanner Access Now Easy - Backendsīut to no avail. Code:ĭescription: EPSON Image Scan! for Linux (including sane-epkowa backend)ĭescription: Image Scan! for Linux data files GT-F650 įirst I have installed iscan and iscan-data and also added my user to the group scanner. The scanner is being recognized correctly: Code:īus 002 Device 005: ID 04b8:012d Seiko Epson Corp. It is rather old but it works fine under my very old opensuse 10.3 (32 bit) and I also got it to work some years ago under a Sabayon installtion which I abandoned now for a Funtoo installation. I am trying to get my Epson scanner (perfection V100 Photo or V10/V100) to work. ![]() Posted: Sat 8:12 am Post subject: Epson scanner V10/V100 Gentoo Forums Forum Index Unsupported Software Is this some power saving feature causing the software to sleep while it's "not in use" (i.e.Gentoo Forums :: View topic - Epson scanner V10/V100 The scanner is connected to an OWC Thunderbolt 2 hub and both VueScan and Image Capture can see it first time every time. I could put up with most of the oddities but I often leave it to scan 6 frames which takes around 10 minutes only now I will have to stay with it to keep prompting it onto each frame. A power cycle on the scanner did nothing and in the end the only thing that got it to work was launching VueScan and doing a test scan before quitting that and trying EPSON Scan again. One time the pointer was already over the window and I just moved the mouse slightly and that woke it up after a pause of several minutes.Īt one point I quit it and relaunched and it could not see the scanner at all. To get it going again I usually have to click on its progress window (anywhere) and it will instantly begin scanning the next frame. Then, sometimes, it pauses after saving that frame. I run the preview scan and select multiple frames for full scan (I'm doing 35mm negatives) and it proceeds to scan the first frame. It has always acted a little weird – failing to notice clicks sometimes unless I Cmd-Tab to the app first, for example – but under El Capitan it is exhibiting some very annoying behaviour. I have the latest EPSON Scan software (3.9.4.0EN) which according to Epson is tested for El Capitan.
